Want To Relax During Podcast Interviews? It Starts With This

Did you know that it took Erno Rubik, the inventor of the Rubiks Cube, one month to solve his own invention?

Have you ever had to record a bunch of podcasts or videos in a week?

How do you plan ahead to make sure that you’re on top of your game?

This week, I have 5 podcast interviews scheduled: four in-person interviews and one virtual interview.

Setting up and breaking down gear is essential for the in-person interviews. It’s crucial to have everything streamlined to prevent any hold-ups.

I'll be conducting these on-location interviews in diverse places:

  • A barbershop

  • A baseball card store

  • A public access studio

  • A drum store

To perform at my best, I need to trust in my gear.

I’ve thoroughly tested all my equipment and done multiple test runs. I have backups in place. For instance, I’ll be using the new Rode Wireless Pro microphones for the interviews. If any issues pop up, I’ve also set up a shotgun microphone to capture audio (in case of the Rode’s failure).

Since my focus will be on the person I'm interviewing, I don't want to constantly worry, "Did I hit record? Is everything still good?" That's why I've created a checklist to run through before each session.

To further make sure I'm on top of my game, I’ve scheduled downtime between interviews.

It's going to be a packed week, but I’ve found that even short breaks, allowing my mind to relax, can impact how I approach the next conversation.

That's why I've incorporated buffer periods into my schedule.

Not expecting there to be any problems, is a problem. With this approach I can relax a bit more and be at my best.

CREATE & COLLABORATE

If you're producing podcasts and posting on social media in the hopes of making money, are you achieving your goal?

A common mistake many make is constantly trying random strategies, hoping something will stick. Or even worse, simply waiting and hoping to go viral, dreaming that people will then just hand you money.

Such instances might have been frequent a few years ago, but nowadays, there's just too much competition and noise. Thankfully, going viral doesn’t equal making money. The key is to focus on setting up your brand so that when people come into contact with your brand, they’re more likely to support it and ultimately, buy from you.
