How much does our environment affect our creativity?

Last week, while waiting for my car to be repaired, I walked over to a park and recorded a podcast episode.

While I was recording, I noticed how new ideas seemed to flow effortlessly.

It was easier to record in the bleachers of a little league with kindergartners playing in the distance than it was at home in a controlled environment.

I'm not saying it's really hard to record at home, but it was different, in a good way.

It also got me thinking. In the past 6 months I've recorded podcast episodes in:

  • A salon

  • A baseball card shop

  • A barbershop

  • A drum shop

  • My car

  • And now a park

Each location brings its own unique surroundings.

But for the most part, thanks to modern technology, it's easy to make each of them sound good.

Many people think of recording in one certain setting, but what if you shook it up?

Eyecandy

Eyecandy is a visual technique library. Which is kind of a vague description? Essentially it’s a collection of a ton of different camera angles, transitions, and more. It’s a great site to browse to learn and expand your arsenal for filming techniques.

*Like 99.9% of the resources I mention here, I don’t have any affiliation with this Creator Resource.
