Less Stress, More Progress

The Aska A5, is a four-seat car that can convert into an aircraft at the touch of a button, has been authorized by both the FAA and DMV. This flying car costs $789,000 and already has 60 pre-orders. Perfect timing as my electric scooter needs an upgrade…

DYLAN’S DOWNLOAD

A few months back I was watching some video from a Content Clips client, and something he said has stuck with me...

He is a coach and speaking about how you show up as a coach during sessions.

So many coaches want to hit home runs every single session, and it puts a lot of pressure on both the coach and the client.

Instead, he proposed, don't try and hit home runs...just aim to hit singles.

Trying to predict the future (or hit a home run) can be stressful and unrealistic. It's better to focus on small wins each session, because those will add up over time.

When you strive for consistent progress, it becomes easier to stay motivated and make progress in the long-term. That's how real change happens.

I think the same can be true for podcasting.

Most hosts I talk to are perfectionists somewhat. And that's a great thing.

But it can be detrimental if you never hit publish because it's not perfect. Or you stress yourself out because of unrealistic standards.

Speaking from personal experience, it's always the times that I've 'just showed up' that resonate the most with people.

I could put hours into an episode, and not hear a single reply. And then an off the cuff episode I record the night before will have people reach out and tell me how much it resonated with them.

Same with videos...I'll record and upload a little video in 10 minutes and it gets hundreds of thousands of views...

Then I'll spend hours editing a video and it will get nothing.

Of course there's value in both.

But don't forget the value of 'just showing up'.

WHAT’S BUZZIN’

There isn't much transparency in podcast analytics. Some people love it, while others are annoyed by it. The 'Open Podcast Prefix Project' (OP3) is a "free and open-source podcast prefix analytics service committed to open data and listener privacy." Currently, only those with access to the backend of their podcast hosting site can see deeper analytics, but OP3 is looking to change that.
