In case you missed the latest episode of Digital Creator, I've got some news to share about my social media channels.
A few months back, I lost access to my Facebook profile and page.
Then, bam! A week ago, my YouTube channel was removed. No warning.
Here's the update: This week, I finally got back into my Facebook profile. 🎉 Still waiting on the page, though.
And YouTube? Well, that's a mystery I'm still unraveling. I suspect some automation glitch.
Meanwhile, I'm not just sitting around. I've kick-started a new YouTube channel as a backup.
Fingers crossed my original one gets resurrected soon.
There are much bigger problems in the world than losing a social media channel.
But some creators lean heavily on these platforms, it could be stressful!
A Friendly Reminder…
Diversify your presence!
Having a newsletter and a podcast can be your only way to communicate if your social channels go away.
It's like having a safety net.
🔑 Key Takeaways
Have a Backup Plan. No, you don't need a clone of every social media account. But recognize that things can go south. Accounts can get hacked, or access lost – it's a harsh reality.
Risks of Social Media. Investing time, energy, and money into only growing on social media is risky. It's like driving a car, accidents can and will likely happen at some point.
Safeguard Your Community. Keep regular backups of your email list. Stay in touch. Starting from absolute scratch after all your hard work? That's a nightmare!
Shifting gears before I sign off from the newsletter until next Friday.
Christmas is around the corner! Whether you're decking the halls or just enjoying the holiday vibes, I'm sending you loads of festive cheer.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and everything in between.
Can't wait to catch up with you in a week!
