Don't Let Losing Followers Hold You Back
Today I learned about Pareidolia. Pareidolia is the human tendency to perceive familiar patterns, such as faces, in random stimuli…like clouds or inanimate objects. 😶
In today’s newsletter:
Gains: What losing followers, listeners, and readers means.

One thing we don't talk about enough as content creators is how every time we hit that publish button, we might lose something in return.
💥 When you send out an email to your audience, you’ve gotta brace yourself for a few unsubscribes.
💥 With every podcast episode, there's an audience member who stops listening.
💥 And on Instagram, it's a constant ebb and flow of followers coming and going.
I remember back in 2012 when I kicked off my newsletter, "Stay on Target."
Sending out emails would make me nervous.
I'd watch that unsubscribe number grow with every email sent.
I’d make up some meaning about the unsubscribes and how it relates to the message in that email.
“How could so many people unsubscribe? I poured my heart, soul, and sunk hours into that!”
It wasn't until I started working with a client with an email list of 100x what I had, that I saw how many people unsubscribe every time you send an email.
And worse, they were sinking not just their heart, soul, and hours…but a lot of money into it!
Losing people with every publish is normal.
And there’s a bunch of reasons why it happens…
But there's only one interpretation I give it these days: You’re constantly refining your audience.
Just because someone unsubscribes – doesn't mean your email lacks value.
Just because someone doesn't hit play – doesn't mean that your podcast or video isn't great.
Just because you haven’t seen a big spike in numbers – doesn’t mean that your message doesn’t matter.
The most successful creators are the ones that are resilient enough to keep publishing.
Even when it feels like they’re losing more than they’re earning.
Because, over time, the data will show that you've gained more of the right-fit audience members than you've lost.
It's all part of the journey.

OpenChat
There’s an infinite number of ways to use ChatGPT. It’s overwhelming. So why not narrow down from infinite to just 10,000 using this free site from OpenChat? Still overwhelming, but at least they’re listed out. 😂
