🔊 How to Breakthrough the Noise
On Tuesday, Twitch released new rules concerning the way live streamers could display ads on the platform. Twitch content creators made their voices loud enough that Twitch walked back the ad rules policy. I hope Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and the rest are taking note…
In today’s email:
Stand Out: A simple checklist that will help your content stand out.
Playlists: How to create curated playlists of your podcast episodes.
First Look: Instagram shared a preview of their upcoming app, Apple is updating their Podcasts app, ChatGPT now integrates with Siri, and more.
How to Breakthrough the Noise
Have you ever felt like your message gets lost in the sea of content that's out there?
The reality is, it's not that there is too much content out there preventing yours from breaking through the noise.
The content you're presenting to your audience may simply not be compelling enough to provoke action.
You can use the 4 U's of copywriting for your content.
Think of this as a checklist that all content should pass before it's published.
This technique works for podcasts, social media content, blogs, etc.
The 4 U's of Copywriting are:
Useful: How does this help your audience?
Urgent: How does it prompt your audience to react?
Unique: How is it different from what's already out there?
Ultra-Specific: How precise are the words that I'm using, such that they leave little room for ambiguity?
At first, asking yourself these questions each time you create a piece of content can be helpful.
Over time, it becomes second nature.

Since Reddit announced its API pricing plans, third-party apps have declared they will shut down because the fees are too high. One popular third-party Reddit app, Apollo, announced yesterday that it would be shutting down due to the $20 million it would cost to maintain its app under the new pricing tier. Many other apps have also stated that they would be shutting down. This wave of closures seems to have been largely sparked by Twitter's decision to charge for their API.

Playlists for Podcast Episodes
You might have caught my IG post about this a couple days ago…but I felt this was worthy of mentioning here too. One way to make it easier for your new listeners to binge your podcast is to create listening paths. Or, curated playlists.
This is super easy to do in Spotify:
Create a playlist like you normally would for music.
Add the selected podcast episodes to it.
Add a playlist photo if you want to spice things up.
Copy the link to the playlist and share, or embed the playlist on your website.
