I’m gonna share a few things from my own battle with the ‘overthinking bug’ that might click with you…

Talking on a Zoom call is one thing, but talking to the camera for an Instagram post? That’s a different game.

One of my ‘hacks’ when I first started Digital Podcaster was embracing the idea of an alter ego.

I created this alter ego part of me out of thin air. (Actually, while staying at in igloo in Joshua Tree. But that’s a story for another day).

With an alter ego, I didn’t have to worry about past insecurities. I didn't hold on to belief that didn't serve me. I didn't have negative (or positive) experiences because I was starting from scratch.

What helped with this approach too was, I wasn’t attached to feedback.

Whether things were good or bad, it wasn’t affecting me as a whole.

Keeping emotions out of the process allowed me to publish faster.

I wasn’t swayed by every like, share, or troll.

When a post would skyrocket, I would feel happy for this ‘character’ that I’ve created. But it wasn’t “I’m doing better than everyone else”.

It was “I’m happy for this like I’d be happy for you.” And that has allowed me to continue keeping things in check.

The next time you’re finding yourself spiraling into the overthinking vortex... remember this alter ego trick.

It might be what you need to stop thinking, and start publishing.
